small problem..

I'm still having a hard time finding information on the internet. Because there are only a small number of resturants in the united states there is not much information on them. So far i have most of its history and options from my surverys..

paper so far..

so as i'm working on my paper i'm having a hard time making it interesting..i couldn't really find anything in my town that interested me to begin with so i just picked a resturant that i frequently visit..so hopefully i'll be able to make this paper good to read.

research stuff

so i'm doing my paper on a resturant, at this time i dont want to give a lot of info away so there is at least a little bit of mystery behind it. But what i will say is that it is an Italian resturant and one interesting fact that i found out was, the two guys that own the chain are actually Irish guys. I found this pretty strange, but other than that, not too much crazy information heading my way. Just the usual research on a sweet resturant.

linking blog

Out of the two websites I enjoyed Detroit funk a lot more. Photography is something that has alwasy fasinated me and the pictures posted on this website are very interesting to me. As I was looking through the website I came across graffiti pictures. When I think of Detroit I think of lots of graffiti everywhere because that is all I ever see when I go down there. Graffiti also greatly interests me by the style, colors and just the gerenral message that some people say in their graffiti. Here are some good pictures of the graffiti taken from around the city of Detroit.

homeplace

So i'm going to be totally honest and just say that i dont really like this book (ccc). Most of the story was boring and the only parts that I got something out of were the anacdotes. The very beginning of the section described in great detail how it was for this little black girl to walk to her grandmas being terrified. The imagry was great and it showed just how poorly the blacks were treated. The other part that I enjoyed was the story of how the slave mother walked over 20 miles just the lay with her son at night. She risked getting whipped in the morning if she were not back by sunrise. After this the author then goes on to argue how Douglass was wrong when saying that was not caring of his mom. She did all that she could to come see her son and probably more than once got whipped for it. Page 71, the second paragraph from the bottom does a really good job of explaining the quote which I enjoyed. I just agree so easily with what some authors have to say and she argued against it which really opened up my thinking processes.

ideas for paper

I live in Novi and i never really stay there to much. Nothing in my town interests me enough to write an entire paper on. I'm the kind of person that if a topic does not interest me I will not write the paper because it will just be garbage anyways. I can't cook so i'm eating out almost every meal that I eat. Therefore the only idea that I have at the moment would be to go to one of the many resturants I eat at. Eating is also one of my favorite things to do so naturally it makes sense. Some resturants that interest me in Novi are Red Robin, Olive Garden, Mongolian BBQ and Dennys. Resturants that are about 20 min away from my house that i go to regularly are Bravo, Mothers Pizza and On the Border. I was also gone in a different state from last thursday til monday so I was not able to physically drive around my town to see if anything jumped out but I'm pretty sure a resturant is going to be my final topic.

cont. thurs

on thursday we were talking about how greek town was either good or bad for the city of detroit and then comparing how the super bowl contributed to the effects. Greek town brings in the funds that is needed by the city and this also helps people from surrounding cities to want to go to Detroit where otherwise they would not go. When the super bowl came to detroit and they cleaned up certain areas so tourists could see the city as "nice" was not good in a long term sense for the city. It showed visitors a fake image of the city that they will never see again if they ever came back to visit. The money used to help set up a fake detroit could have been used in much more effective ways that would actually be long term. Some ideas would be painting over graffiti, cleaning up trash all over the city, re building old un-used structures, etc. Just something that would help the city stay nice for more than just a week.

niki window

Niki's Window reading is how cities have changed and evolved today reflects their character and how people like and dislike the changes. They may be changed for the better or for the worse but how they are today, in comparison to what they were in the past reflects their reputation and how people view them. Pastness-- he means in simpler words "what it was and how it became what it is now". Nostaligia--the feeling that people have about Detroit, they are different depending on if you live there or not. Humiliation--Detroit is humiliated meaning it was degraded. The Detroit in the past had so much more success and great t hings abou tit. Detroit today is somewhere unsafe, not a place most want to live and not as clean/nice as it use to be.
